About BNAR

BNAR is the acronym for the Buffalo Niagara Association of REALTORS®, a membership organization comprised of REALTOR® and REALTOR-ASSOCIATES®, and includes brokers, salespeople, property managers, appraisers, bankers, attorneys and others, united for a common purpose – to have a strong collective voice in decisions affecting the real estate profession.

Our mission is to assist members to become successful, inclusive, profitable and knowledgeable; and to promote professionalism, cooperation, fair housing and real property rights. Our vision is that the BNAR support and maintain an orderly marketplace for the effective exchange of real estate while promoting uncompromising ethical principles among its members.

The term REALTOR® has only one meaning.  It identifies real estate professionals who are members of the National Association of REALTORS® and subscribe to its strict Code of Ethics. Not all real estate agents are REALTORS® but by belonging to a local association, one automatically assumes membership in the state and national associations.

Members of local associations, State associations and the National Association have all played an active and important role in making it possible for more than six of every ten American families to own their own homes.

The BNAR was founded in 1904, and today is one of the largest real estate Associations in the country; in fact, BNAR is larger than many state associations.

The BNAR is dedicated to maximizing its member’s ability to successfully develop their business in a professional manner by providing an avenue for education, research and exchange of information among its members and the public and local government for the purpose of protecting the rights of homeownership.

BNAR offers a menu of high quality products and services and networking opportunities and serves as the recognized voice of real estate in Western New York, presenting a unified front on issues affecting the industry.  BNAR has a professional staff to service members and award winning education programs. Members are always well informed on the latest news in the Association and the industry through email publications and the BNAR website.

The BNAR is governed by a Board of Directors who are elected to serve three year terms, plus our Directors at Large whose terms are one year.  The work is done through a system of committees, each of which works with the assistance of a paid staff member of the Association. Being a participant in the Association allows members to network with other real estate professionals while at the same time have a direct influence on the policies of the Association.
